A Tribute to Mrs Stanley |
on her Retirement |
21 December 2006 |
Mrs Stanley started her teaching career in 1961 at Primet Junior School in Colne, Lancashire. In 196 she moved to Rochdale and taught in a Secondary School and an Infant School. One year later she arrived in Crosby, initially teaching at St Nicholas's Primary School in Blundellsands for one term before moving to what was St Luke's Boys School. |
It was in 1970 that Mrs Stanley first set foot into Forefield Junior School. She was asked by the then Headteacher, Mr Titterington, to provide just two weeks supply cover for a teacher by the name of Miss Sherwin, who was due to start her duties in July when she had completed her university course. This was the best temporary appointment ever! Mr Titterington obviously spotted a great talent as Mrs Stanley has been here ever since! (Miss Sherwin later returned to Forefield as Mrs Fisher.) |
Here are some of the staff she has worked with and just a few of the many classes she has taught over the last thirty six years at Forefield Junior School. |
During her thirty-six years mrs Stanley has taught so many classes throughout the school. She has been co-ordinator of a wide range of curriculum areas, including Art and Craft, PE and Games, and Mathematics. She intitiated our extended residential visit to Ambleside in 1984, and for many years was in charge of this highlight of life in Year 6. She has always given her time generously to enhance the opportunities for children to extend their learning in so many ways. |
In 1993 she was promoted to Deputy Headteacher of our school. From 1994 until Mr Naylor's arrival in January 1996, she was Acting Headteacher. Her teaching, pastoral care and leadership have been highly prasied during three published OFSTED inspections. She is an exceptional teacher in every way. |

Staff and children paid a special tribute to Mrs Stanley in a dedicated assembly on her last day at the school. Each class presented her with a book of photographs, poems and pictures as a reminder of her time at Forefield and to let her know just how much she means to everyone at the school. |
Miss Crawford wrote new words for "The Building Song" especially for the occasion. |
