Y3 Visit to the Sefton Coast |
Every year as part of their Geography topic, each of our Year 3 classes makes a visit along the Sefton Coast. During their visit, the children experience a wide range of natural and manmade environments, and study the diverse habitats for a variety of plants and animals. There are three main stopping points on the tour: |
Crosby Marina |
Ainsdale |
Southport Pier |
Crosby Marina |
Whilst at Crosby Marina, the children made some observational drawings of the things they saw. The photos below show the children at work. Click any picture for a larger view. |
Ainsdale |
The next stopping point was Ainsdale Ranger Station. After a short break for lunch, the Coastal Rangers took our children down on to the beach. There they found a wide variety of shells and seaweed that had been washed up by the tide. Next, the children were taken to explore the sand dunes, home to the endangered Natterjack Toad. They were taught about the importance of preserving this very special habitat. After this, following careful instructions, each child made a small collage by collecting petals and leaves from the plants and flowers. |
