Roald Dahl's
Fantastic Mr Fox

In Literacy, the children of Year 5 have been reading Roald Dahl's 'Fantastic Mr Fox'. They enjoyed it so much that 5C decided to tell the story in their class assembly.

Meet Boggis, Bunce and Bean, three farmers who are fed up with the local wildlife raiding their stock and ruining their crops. Despite their best efforts, the farmers never seem to be able to catch Mr Fox in the act.

Even when they hide behind a tree near his den, Mr Fox can smell the farmers on the wind and uses this to his advantage. Fed up waiting, the farmers decide the only way to stop Mr Fox is to dig him out.

As the shovels begin to destroy the den, the foxes dig deeper and deeper underground. Before too long, the farmers begin to tire and realise they will never dig the foxes out by hand. Determined to get rid of the pests, Boggis, Bunce and Bean decide to use a mechanical digger.

In desperation, the foxes dig like they have never dug before. But will digging be enough to save them this time? You will have to read the book to find out!
