4J Class Assembly
13 October 2006

The children of 4J did a fantastic job of presenting this year's Harvest Celebration Assembly based on the theme 'Great Oaks From Little Acorns Grow.' To illustrate this idea, the children shared some of the 'seeds of inspiration' that had encouraged them to achieve. One child told how a teacher's words of praise encouraged him work harder. Another told how watching someone dance had encouraged her to take lessons. Yet another had achieved success in judo with support from a great instructor. What could you do to encourage someone else to succeed?

In a more traditional manner, the children presented a short drama of 'The Parable of the Sower'. The farmer sowed his seed. Some of it fell among weeds and was choked. Some fell on rocky ground and could not take root. But some fell on good soil and grew into strong and healthy crops.
The children also acted as 'The Haves and the Have Nots' to teach us that, as well as being thankful for all that we have, Harvest is also a time to think of others who do not have as much as we do.

Sometimes, thinking about others is not enough. Sometimes, we need to do something to help. This year, children were encouraged to bring in £1 or whatever they could afford to help people in third world countries. The final total was an AMAZING

£608!

A message from Mrs Jackson:

“Those who know me will agree that I am rarely stuck for words, but this magnificent total has stunned me.  Words cannot thank everyone enough for their contributions, but I would like to say a special thank-you to the children who emptied their moneyboxes to make their own donations.  You are little acorns now, but you’ll grow into splendid oaks!  Well done.”
